As one of Indonesia's top lawyers, Melli Darsa specializes in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, banking, corporate finance, litigation and dispute resolution. She obtained a law degree from the University of Indonesia before going on to earn a master's degree from Harvard Law School. In July 2017, her firm joined the global network of PricewaterhouseCoopers alongside other Indonesian firms. Her firm provides legal services in its areas of specialty for PwC. Melli has meanwhile also been urging Harvard University to pay more attention to Indonesia as a major global player from a socioeconomic perspective, through various academic discussions, joint research, student exchanges and other knowledge-sharing activities. The seasoned legal practitioner recently invited professor Matthew C. Stephenson, who teaches administrative law, legislation and regulation, anti-corruption law and the political economy of public law at Harvard Law School, to participate in a discussion titled "A Global Fight Against Corruption."

Tinah Bingei Tanoto, the wife of prominent Indonesian businessman Sukanto Tanoto, is engaged in social and humanitarian endeavors under the Tanoto Foundation she founded with her husband and other members of the family. As an entrepreneur, visionary and pioneer of several industries, Tinah aims to educate and empower marginalized members of society, including through various annual scholarships to underprivileged students. She is also a board member of the Business Families Foundation and member of the board of trustees of the University of North Sumatra.

Tatty Bakrie

Tatty is the hidden power behind Aburizal Bakrie, a prominent politician and founder of the Bakrie Group. The family's estate is estimated to be worth around $2.5 billion. She is mainly active in the family's social activities, providing funding and encouragement to develop the education sector. Her philanthropic vehicles include the Tatty Bakrie Fellowship, Bakrie Education Foundation and Bakrie for the Nation Foundation. She has assisted many students with scholarships to attend Bakrie University and short courses on leadership and management. The powerful couple, who met while studying at the Bandung Institute of Technology, has three children: Anindya Novyan, Anindhita Anestya and Anindra Ardiansyah, who all play active roles in the management of the diversified Bakrie Group.

Aviliani

As one of Indonesia's leading economists, Aviliani provides a critical perspective on the country's economy. The 57-year-old woman has held senior positions at state-owned lenders, Bank Rakyat Indonesia and Bank Mandiri, while also helming the National Economic Commission (KEN) in 2010. Born in Malang, East Java, she obtained a Ph.D. from the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB) in West Java and she is a member of the supervisory body of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin). She continues to teach at Paramadina University and the Perbanas College of Economics, while also being a well-known television talk-show host. The Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef) economist recently criticized the government's economic policy reforms, but also agreed with some, such as the simplification of the cigarette excise structure to boost state income.

Anita Tanjung

As the wife of Chairul Tanjung, one of Indonesia's most prominent businessmen, Anita Ratnasari has no time to be idle. She has been involved in various philanthropic activities, including assisting with renovations of schools, ensuring proper hygiene in Indonesia's remote areas, and helping the underprivileged through the CT Arsa Foundation. After graduating from the University of Indonesia's school of dentistry, she spent seven years working at the PMI Bogor and Gatot Subroto hospitals, while helping the community through the foundation she founded with her husband. Anita also became an author with the recent release of her travel guide, "Pesona Solo." She is further engaged in a nonformal education institution that aims to provide quality human resources.

Svida Alisjahbana

As chief executive of Femina, one of Indonesia's premier media groups, Svida Alisjahbanaha has played an instrumental role in the company's growth and its shift to a digital platform. She took over the management from her aunt, Mirta Kartohadiprodjo, after an early career at GE Capital. She oversees the publications Femina, Gadis and Dewi, and she successfully launched the Femina Woman Entrepreneurship Program and Jakarta Fashion Week to support local designers. As a prominent media figure, she also chairs the Indonesia Press Association's magazine department, while she is also a member of the International Federation of the Periodical Press (FIPP). Svida graduated from the University of Michigan in 1988 before obtaining an M.B.A. from Columbia University in New York.

Destry Damayanti

Destry Damayanti resigned from her posts at Bank Mandiri to focus exclusively on her role as member of the board of commissioners of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS). She was an economist at Bank Mandiri and led the Mandiri Institute, an advisory body set up by the state-owned lender, before joining the LPS. She graduated from the University of Indonesia before obtaining a master's of science degree from Cornell University in New York. Her previous roles include serving as senior economic advisor to the British ambassador to Indonesia between 2000 and 2003, working as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Indonesia, and chairing the leadership selection committee of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Yani Panigoro

Over many years, Yani Panigoro has been developing her expertise in the empowerment of small and medium enterprises. She became a commissioner of publicly listed Indonesian oil and gas company PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk, where she also heads several subsidiaries. The Bandung Institute of Technology electrical engineering graduate went on to obtain a master's degree in management from the Bandung Graduate School of Management. Her many accomplishments in Medco Energi have seen her become an inspiration to other women. Yani also established "Medco Girls," a special division in the company, mainly staffed by women. She received recognition for her efforts to empower women when chosen to be featured in Betti Alisjahbana's book "Pemimpin Perempuan" ("Women Leaders"). She also leads the Medco Foundation, which maps out the group's corporate social responsibility programs.

Veronica Colondam

Veronica Colondam, a graduate of Imperial College London and Harvard University's Executive Education Program, founded the Cinta Anak Bangsa Foundation (YCAB). The prestigious social organization ranked in 49th place in Geneva-based independent media organization NGO Advisor's Top 50 NGOs rating last year. The foundation focuses on empowering women through microfinance. According to YCAB's annual report, it has provided soft-skill training to more than 2 million young people, extended microloans to more than 60,000 women, developed more than 66 learning centers and engaged in other social activities that have made both a direct and indirect impact on the community.

Tiur Rumondang

Tiur Rumondang is currently director of operations for Indonesia at the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, a nonprofit organization promoting the growth and use of sustainable oil palm products through credible global standards and engagement of stakeholders. Prior to joining the RSPO, she served as executive director of the Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD), an association of companies that share a commitment to sustainable development. Tiur has a strong background in finance and she has worked in various international projects since 2003.
