Breitling X Ocean Conservancy Beach Cleanup 2019

Under the big blue clear sky, hundreds of people were gathered in Mertasari Beach at Sanur, Bali. With trash bags and gloves in hands, they excitedly picked up trashes and plastics at the Breitling X Ocean Conservancy Beach Cleanup on May 10. Participated by children, volunteers, also Breitling's Surfer Squad: Kelly Slater, Sally Fitzgibbons, and Stephanie Gilmore, the beach cleanup succeed to remove hundreds of kilograms trashes and plastics from the beach. “The ocean clean up has been part of Breitling's mission. We really need to do our part to save the ocean and environment,” said Alvin Soon, the President of Breitling Asia. In Indonesia, ocean plastics waste has been a grave issue. According to Indonesia Plastic Industry Association (INAPLAS) and Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), Indonesia contributes 64 million tons of plastic waste every year and 3.2 million tons of them are thrown to the ocean. However, Nicholas Mallos, Trash Free Seas Program Director of Ocean Conservancy, finds the country has a strong commitment to tackling this issue, yet everybody still needs to be involved. “There's no silver bullet, there's no single solution, everyone has a role to play and this beach cleanup is the embodiment of everyone there. This event won't solve the problem alone but I think it will create awareness, enthusiasm, a change in the way we see this issue that can lead to other impacts and solutions,” he added. On the same day, Breitling launched the Superocean Heritage Ocean Conservancy Limited Edition to strengthen its commitment in maintaining healthy oceans and clean beaches, as well as its partnership with Ocean Conservancy. Breitling pairs the 44-millimetre stainless-steel chronometer with a pair of extremely durable NATO straps. The straps made from ECONYL® yarn, an innovative material repurposed from nylon waste, one source of which is fishing nets from oceans around the world. The watch is also presented in 100% recycled material packaging. A Limited Edition Superocean Heritage Aside from its environment-friendly material, the Superocean Heritage Ocean Conservancy Limited Edition completed with unique and useful features, especially for divers. Powered by a Breitling Caliber 13 mechanical movement, the chronograph features an ultra-hard scratch and shock-resistant unidirectional rotating bezel with a luminescent central dot at 12 o’clock. This dot, as well as the minute and hour hands, are coated with Super-LumiNova® and emit blue light. In addition, the only-1000-pieces watch has water resistance feature that up to 200 metres. The Superocean Heritage Ocean Conservancy Limited Edition perfected by a silver-coloured dial that enhanced by a blue “Superocean” inscription. Breitling adds blue accents and a blue central second hand as well as tone-on-tone subdials with blue or nickel-plated accents that make the watch even more stunning. Last but not least, the watch is distinguished by a caseback engraved with the Ocean Conservancy logo and the limited edition “1 OF 1000”.
