The Enlightenment Era of Fashion

The Lumières may be long gone, but the desire of being liberated from the rigid ideas is still strongly stitched in fashion.

Style icon Iris Apfel has always been boundless to any universal fashion trend but her own. Endlessly challenging the traditional fashion trends, Iris Apfel now knits another round of threads with AIGNER in their Fall/Winter Collection 2019 titled the Enlightenment.

In creating the Enlightenment era of fashion, AIGNER aims for an opulent fusion of clean shapes and rich details of flowers, tartan checks, horseheads and screw studs. Special accents are added by metallic finishes: either by a clean mirrored effect in metallic gold, silver or in color, or as an iridescent effect in light pink or dark green or blue. Its core colors – Night Grey, Dark Mauve, Bison Brown, Shadow Grey and Light Mauve – are deliberately subtle and muted; hence, radiating refinement and class while highlighting the details.

With its new size and details, the signature Cybill bag remains as the protagonist of the series. As a symbol of winter, Cybill Tartan now emerges in a seasonal check pattern of different mauve and dark blue shades. The Cybill Perla also breakthroughs the cold with its screw studs and bordered pearls.

Being the symbolic flower of free thoughts, pansies are in full bloom in the Enlightenment collection particularly with the pansy print in the spacious Cosima.

In this collection, AIGNER remains inseparable from their trademark equestrian world. Bestowed with the name of the Roman goddess of horses, the crossbody model Epona carries the exquisite golden horsehead as its closure statement. On the other hand, Savona offers a new gold element of shackles reminiscent to AIGNER’s classic horseshoe.

Iris Apfel also offers a plethora of choices with the Enlightenment collection. An intricate fusion of the collection’s every detail – be it the crystal studs, patterns or pansies, is shown in the Dora Bag. Meanwhile, a timeless look is reflected in Dea’s striking golden metal parts and a vintage lock. For a daring look, one can rock on the snake-skinned Dana or the new Serena belt bag. Existing AIGNER collections are also basked in a new light; be it the flare of studs in the new crossbody model Florentina or the tartan check of the Cavalina.
