Corporate Round-up / April 2018
PT Bank Nationalnobu Tbk. (Nobu Bank) launched a new debit card in collaboration with MasterCard in March that aims to give customers better services for transactions in Indonesia as well as overseas. In a launch event themed “Discover the World with Us,” Nobu Bank president director Suhaimin Johan said cardholders will be able to access their accounts anywhere in the world with the new chip-based card and purchase products through the MasterCard network at 43 million merchants in 210 countries.
Tommy Singgih, MasterCard Indonesia director, stated his full support for Nobu Bank’s commitment to develop its services. Suhaimin Johan said the debit card aims at netting 50-75,000 cardholders in the first year, with numbers increasing year by year. The new chip-based card provides protection against fraud and skimming practices.
The bank will replace all magnetic tape-based cards with chip-based cards by 2020. The card can be used to withdraw funds from ATMs as well as for merchant transactions.
