Elegance in The Dark

Once more, Italian design and Swiss technology combine to bring new timepieces, inspired by tradition. The lines of the LUMINOR DUE are inspired by the Luminor 1950 case, which represents the culmination of the Panerai creations made for the Italian Navy from the 1930s to the 1950s.

One of the most prominent piece of the collection is the new Luminor Due-42MM (PAM00904). The timepiece is fitted with the Manufacture OP XXXIV automatic calibre, with a power reserve of three days. The bidirectional oscillating weight winds the watch continuously and efficiently. The balance oscillates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz). 121⁄2 lignes in diameter and 4.2 mm thick. 171 components. The watch features an anthracite dial with satiné soleil finish and the classic Panerai design with large luminous linear hour markers and figures. The small seconds counter is at 9 o’clock and the date window is at 3 o’clock.

The timepiece is contained within a 42 mm in diameter and only 10.5 mm thick case which is made entirely of AISI 316L stainless steel, a steel alloy with excellent properties of corrosion resistance. The winding crown is protected by the classic bridge device with lever, patented by Panerai in 1956. The case and bezel have a polished finish with a solid steel back and completed with strap made of untreated brown leather, with contrasting beige stitching. The buckle is made of the same stainless steel that the case is made from to complete the timeless look of the watch.

The brand ambassador to represent the watch is none other than United States photographer Jason M. Peterson, internationally known for his black and white photographs. He showcased the watch’s elegance in a short film Chasing Light with Panerai, which describes the photographer’s effort to attain the perfect shot, balancing composition and light shown on the subject.
